Who we are
EmoDays is developed and published by APK Ventures, LLC, 201 Rue Beauregard, Suite 202, Lafayette, LA 70508, USA (“APK Ventures,” “we,” “us”). This Privacy Policy explains what information EmoDays uses, where it goes, and the choices you have. For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, APK Ventures, LLC is the data controller for the limited data described here that we process.
The short version
EmoDays has no accounts. Your calendar, notes, moods and settings live on your device and in your own private iCloud, which we cannot read. When a feature needs the internet, such as event search or the optional OpenRouter AI engine, we send only what that feature needs and we do not keep it. The one thing other people can see is your display name and avatar on the Event Check In map, and only if your visibility is set to “Everyone.” We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
What stays on your device and in your iCloud
Your calendar events, notes, notebooks, mood check-ins, booked and past events, check-ins, achievements, saved tickets, avatar and profile settings, followed artists and app preferences are stored on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. If iCloud is turned on for EmoDays, this data also syncs through your own private iCloud account (CloudKit private database). That data is stored under your Apple ID and encrypted in transit, and APK Ventures, LLC cannot read or access it.
The Notes lock
If you turn on the optional Notes passcode lock, we never store the passcode itself. We store only a salted cryptographic hash of it in your device’s Keychain, set so it never syncs to iCloud or backups. If you use Face ID, Touch ID or Optic ID for the lock, Apple’s LocalAuthentication framework handles that on your device. EmoDays never receives, sees or stores biometric data.
Location
EmoDays uses your device’s location only when you use a feature that needs it, and only with your permission. You can allow or deny location access at any time in your device’s Settings.
Finding nearby events. When you search for events, your location is rounded on your device to about 1 km (or you can enter a city instead) while the user is present. The search is sent to the EmoDays server, which runs on Cloudflare. The server passes the search to the event and place providers we use: Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, Bandsintown, Viator, GetYourGuide, Tripadvisor and Foursquare. It returns their results to your device and keeps nothing. We do not store your location, your search terms or your IP address from searches. The providers see the search but not who you are, and they handle it under their own privacy policies. Apple Maps (MapKit) is used for maps and place lookups under Apple’s privacy policy.
Weather. To show local weather, EmoDays sends your approximate location to Apple through Apple WeatherKit. Apple handles that request under its own privacy policy, and we do not receive or store it.
Events near me and tour alerts. These alerts are checked on your device. EmoDays uses your approximate location on the device to decide which events fall within the alert radius you choose, and it delivers alerts as local notifications. To look up tour dates, the app sends the names of artists you follow through the EmoDays server to the event providers, without your location history or any identifier, and nothing is retained. We do not track your location in the background or keep a history of your movements.
Verifying check-ins. When you check in to an event or venue, EmoDays checks your device’s current location at that moment to confirm you are at the venue. This happens on your device. Only the result is saved: the venue, the time, and whether it was verified. That lets the check-in count toward your achievements and appear in your Past Events. We do not save the coordinates used to verify it. Your check-ins and achievements are stored on your device and synced through your private iCloud.
Location-based security checks. To keep achievements fair, EmoDays may decline a check-in if your device reports that its location is simulated, comes from an external accessory, or doesn’t match a recent check-in. These checks use information your device provides at the time of check-in, and nothing about them is stored.
Event Check In map and your public profile
Event Check In lets you appear on a shared map at the venue you checked in to. Your visibility starts as “Everyone.” EmoDays explains this the first time you check in, and you can switch to Ghost mode at any time in Event Check In or Settings.
While your visibility is “Everyone,” EmoDays places a record in our CloudKit public database. The record holds your display name, your avatar, the venue (its location, not yours), the check-in time, and an anonymous CloudKit identifier that Apple assigns to EmoDays users. Other EmoDays users near that venue can see your display name and avatar. Your real name, Apple ID, email address, contact details and exact location are never shown.
Each pin is removed automatically after check-in and the user leaves the area. It is also removed right away if you switch to Ghost mode or delete your data. Because the public database belongs to APK Ventures, we can access these records. We use them only to run the map, to review reports, and to enforce our Terms of Use.
Reports and blocking. If you report a user, we receive the report: the reported display name and avatar, the reason you chose, the venue and the time. We keep reports for up to 12 months to review them and prevent abuse. Blocking a user is stored on your device.
Choose a display name that doesn’t identify you if you’d rather stay anonymous.
Music connections
You can connect Apple Music, or enter a Last.fm, Deezer or SoundCloud username, so EmoDays can learn which artists you listen to for tour alerts and recommendations. Apple Music is read through Apple’s MusicKit on your device, with your permission. For username-based services, the username is sent through the EmoDays server to that service to fetch your artist list, and nothing is retained. We never ask for or receive your passwords. EmoDays also looks up artist and setlist information from MusicBrainz, setlist.fm and Wikidata/Wikipedia; those lookups include artist names only. The artist list is stored on your device and in your private iCloud. You can disconnect any service in Settings > Music.
AI Assistant
EmoDays includes an optional AI Assistant that can answer questions about your calendar, help you plan events, and help you reflect on your notes and moods. You choose which AI engine powers it in Settings > AI Assistant, and which of your EmoDays data it may use.
On-device AI (default). On supported Apple devices with Apple Intelligence turned on, the Assistant uses Apple’s on-device language model. Your messages and any data the Assistant uses are processed on your device. They are not sent to us, to Apple, or to any other third party.
OpenRouter (optional, EmoDays Premium). If you connect an OpenRouter account, your messages are sent directly from your device to OpenRouter, Inc. OpenRouter routes them to the AI model provider you select (for example Anthropic, OpenAI or Google) to generate a response. We do not receive, see or store this content. OpenRouter and the model provider handle it under their own privacy policies and terms, including how long they keep it. Please review OpenRouter’s privacy policy (https://openrouter.ai/privacy) and your OpenRouter data settings before connecting. EmoDays asks for your permission before anything is sent to OpenRouter for the first time.
What may be sent to OpenRouter. When you use the OpenRouter engine, a request may include: - The messages you type and the conversation so far. - Calendar events, notes and mood entries related to your request, but only for the categories you have allowed in Settings > AI Assistant. Notes and moods are off by default. - EmoDays catalog events (holidays and music-history dates). - If you ask about nearby events, the city or area used for that search.
We do not send your name, email address, contacts or device identifiers to OpenRouter.
Your connection key. Connecting creates an API key linked to your OpenRouter account. The key is stored in your device’s Keychain and, if you use iCloud Keychain, synced through your own iCloud account so it works on your other devices. We never receive it. Disconnecting in Settings deletes the key from your devices. You can also revoke it completely in your OpenRouter account.
Charges. OpenRouter bills your OpenRouter account for use of the OpenRouter engine. We do not receive or process that payment information.
Chat history. Your AI Assistant conversations are stored only on your device and do not sync through iCloud. You can delete them at any time in Settings > AI Assistant > Clear Chat History.
Your choices. At any time you can switch engines, turn off the Assistant’s access to your events, notes or moods, disconnect OpenRouter, or clear your chat history. The rest of EmoDays works without the AI Assistant.
Purchases and subscriptions
Apple handles EmoDays Premium (including its free trial) and any other purchases through the App Store and StoreKit. We receive only the information Apple provides to confirm that a purchase or subscription is active. We never receive your payment details, name or email address.
Diagnostics and quality assurance
To find and fix bugs and crashes, EmoDays uses tools to include, but not limited to, Apple’s App Store Connect crash reports and other analytic tools. These tools may collect crash logs and technical information such as device model, OS version, app version and performance data. This information is not linked to your identity and is never used for advertising. Where a tool lets us, we exclude your calendar, notes, moods and location from diagnostics.
The EmoDays server and hosting
Our server runs on Cloudflare. It relays event-search and music lookups and returns the results to the app. It does not store your location, search terms, usernames or IP address. Cloudflare, as our hosting provider, may process technical information such as IP addresses briefly to deliver and protect the service, under its own privacy policy. The shared holiday and music-history catalog is read from our CloudKit public database and involves no personal data.
No selling, no ads, no tracking
We do not sell or “share” your personal information (as those terms are used in U.S. state privacy laws). EmoDays shows no third-party ads, and it does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. Because we don’t track you, we don’t change anything in response to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
How long we keep data
- Data on your device and in your private iCloud: until you delete it.
- Map check-in records: until your pin expires, you switch to Ghost mode, or you delete your data.
- Reports about other users: up to 12 months.
- Event search, music and weather lookups: not stored by us.
- Diagnostic data: as long as the tool provider keeps it, typically no more than 12 months.
- Messages you send us by email: as long as needed to answer you and keep business records.
Your data, your control
You can export a full backup of your data at any time from Settings > Data Control, or export just your notes as text files. From the same screen you can delete all of your data on this device and in your iCloud. Doing so also: - clears every Keychain item EmoDays has stored, including your OpenRouter key and the Notes passcode hash - removes any check-in records you have in our public database - clears your AI chat history
Deleting your data doesn’t affect purchases or subscriptions. Those belong to your Apple ID and can be restored or canceled through Apple.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California and other U.S. states, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, you may have the right to: - access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information - object to or restrict certain processing - withdraw consent
Most EmoDays data never reaches us, so you can use these rights directly in the app (see “Your data, your control”). For anything we hold, such as map records or reports, email info@apkventuresllc.com. We will respond within the time the law requires, and we will not discriminate against you for using your rights.
EEA and UK users. We process the limited data we handle on these legal bases: - to provide the features you request (performance of a contract) - with your consent (location access, OpenRouter, appearing on the map), which you can withdraw at any time - for our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure, fixing bugs and preventing abuse)
You have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
International transfers
APK Ventures is based in the United States, and our service providers (Apple, Cloudflare, OpenRouter and the event providers) may process information in the U.S. and other countries. Where the law requires it, such transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Security
We use Apple’s security features (Keychain, iCloud encryption and on-device processing) and HTTPS for every network request. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we design EmoDays to keep as little of your data as possible.
Children’s privacy
EmoDays is not directed to children under 13. In the EEA and UK, it is not directed to anyone under the age at which they can consent to data processing in their country (up to 16). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has placed information in our public database, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as EmoDays changes, and we will update the date at the top when we do. If a change significantly affects how your information is used, we will let you know in the app before it takes effect.
